...outside play-off hopes take a probable terminal blow after losing 3-2 at Grosvenor Vale to Eastbourne Borough on Monday night.
The Stones lost their Buildbase FA Trophy Semi-Final to National League North side Brackley Town on Saturday but were looking to mount a late challenge for a top seven spot.
Boro, on the other hand, needed the points just to make sure they didn`t get sucked into a battle at the other end of the table.
And, despite being pegged back twice, Boro secured three vital points.
They couldn`t have asked for a better start though as Jamie Taylor fired home from 18 yards inside 20 seconds!
The hosts were back on level terms after 23 minutes when a corner from new signing Jeffrey Monakana was bundled in at the far bost by Danny Green.
Taylor struck inside the first minute and added his second in the final minute of the half – albeit against the general run of play - with another long-range effort that beat Jonathan North.
Twelve minutes into the second half, The Stones were back on terms once more when more good work from Monakana saw Matty Whichelow fire home his cross.
The home side`s disappointing couple of days were capped off 3 minutes from time when, following a break away after a free-kick at the other end of the pitch, Lloyd Dawes won it for Boro with a fine strike across North.
