Two quick goals inside a minute close to the end of the Vanarama National League match with Macclesfield on Tuesday evening left the U’s boss in dream land.
“There is no better feeling than scoring two goals, in those circumstances, inside a minute,” he beamed. “You get three points when a minute earlier you have none. It’s hard to describe.
“It’s a reward for keeping going. There’s a special team in that dressing room and they just keep going and keep going.
“We’ve still got seven players out injured remember, and that’s great credit to the team we’ve got because that’s four games already in ten days – we’ve taken nine points and that’s incredible really, especially looking at the fact we’ve played four clubs who will all expected to be right up there challenging.”
But he wasn’t entirely sure they would get one point, forget the three.
“I looked up at the clock at 79 minutes after another chance went begging and I thought this isn’t going to happen for us. I thought even if we could get a point that’s seven, but in the back of my mind was all the hard work from Tranmere being wasted a 1-0 down,” Doswell said.
“Losing at home on a Tuesday night after winning up there and beating Leyton Orient would have felt like a real kick in the you-know-wheres.
"So for the players to turn it around speaks volumes for them.”
Sutton now travel to Chester this weekend.
