Doswell Says On The Day His Team Deserved Defeat

Sutton United boss Paul Doswell admitted his side just simply weren't at their best during their 3-2 loss to Boreham Wood.

A place in the Vanarama National League promotion final was on the line and United just couldn't get the vital win, writes Tom Feaheny.

"The players didn't do themselves justice on the day, that will be their biggest regret for the summer now," Doswell told SUFCTV.

"It is a huge disappointment, we only really got going after 70 minutes, football is about both boxes, we gave away soft goals.

"We had every advantage going for us at home, didn't play mid-week, they played really well."

Doswell says despite this loss, there is still plenty to look forward to for the club.

"The regret will keep going for a few more weeks, the community, the fans it is disappointing, but we know there will be plenty to play for next season.

"You look at the list of names we will face next season, we look forward to that and continuing the community project as well.

"We can be proud of what has been done this season on and off the pitch and we will look for that to progress."
