Doswell Loves His Life Of Ups And Downs!

Sutton United manager Paul Doswell knows the only thing predictable about football is its unpredictability.

His side eased past second place Wrexham 3-0 on Saturday, days after Boreham Wood thrashed them on their own pitch.

The Red Dragons came into the game on the back of a first-half blitz against Ebbsfleet - but those results mattered little this weekend.

“That’s the feature of football,” he told the club. “We lost 4-0 in the game before, and they go and win 4-1 against Ebbsfleet.

“But today we could have won by five or six goals, it’s incredible to think.

“It’s hard to explain. We spent a lot of time with the players on Thursday. It was a lesson learned by everyone, myself included, that if you aren’t at it in the league then you’ll lose. The manner of that defeat was totally unacceptable.

“It was a shambolic display and it hurt me. There was a focus on us to go out and put in a performance that says ‘that’s a Sutton United team’ and we certainly did that,” Doswell added.

“There was a few nervous players driving up the motorway, but traditionally we react very very well to being beaten.

“After the Wrexham game I told them to never, ever forget the Boreham Wood result.”
