Dorking Wanderers Ready For Biggest Challenge Yet says White

Marc White is relishing the opportunity of leading Dorking Wanderers into the Vanarama National League South for the first time this season.

After securing an eleventh promotion in April, the Owner/First-Team Manager admits the test of sixth-tier football will be the toughest since forming the Club twenty years ago.

The Wanderers travel to Slough Town on the opening day of the campaign next Saturday.

Speaking to the Club’s YouTube channel, White said: “I’m pretty confident we’ll go in our numbers to Slough for our first ever match at this level.

“The team that will be picked will be players well accustomed to the level of football. We’ll look to give a good account of ourselves.

“It’s going to be a big step up compared to what we’ve ever been used to.

“We’ll just have to take it one game at a time”.

Dorking’s sole defeat in pre-season came in yesterday’s match at Hastings United.

Despite picking up four wins during their preparation for the campaign, White is keen to see improvements from the squad ahead of next Saturday’s start.

“The boys that want to get themselves into the first choice team didn’t do themselves many favours”, he admitted after the game.

“It is about performances at this stage of pre-season. Today’s wasn’t very good.

“What’s starting to become clear is the best 13/14 players are better than the rest of the squad. It’s down to those players to work harder.

“You have to get over the results in pre-season and concentrate on individuals and combinations”.
