Devonshire Knows Magpies Are Flying Into The Unknown

Alan Devonshire accepts Maidenhead United don’t know what’s around the corner this season but they are going to have a great time finding out.

The excited Magpies are about to begin their first season in the top flight of Non-League football and they can’t wait.

The Vanarama National League South champions are at Maidstone United on the first day.

Devonshire has managed to keep his title winning squad together, including free-scoring Dave Tarpey.

The managers hopes his players can carry on from where they left off last season.

“We’re going into the unknown a bit so we’re not entirely sure what to expect,” the experience manager, known as Dev throughout the game, said.

“Everyone is looking forward to it, we’ve got very difficult games to start with but we like a challenge. Just look at last season.

“We’ve got to embrace it, we’re one of the part-time clubs but we’ve got a strong work ethic.

“We’ll see how we go, time will tell how well we adapt but we’ve got a good squad and we’re looking like we could have a good season.”
