Dev Won't Get A Late Season Malaise Hamper Magpies

Alan Devonshire has made a pledge to the club’s supporters after the team’s form has taken a turn for the worse.

Saturday’s 1-0 home defeat struggling Barrow left the Stripes with just a point to show from their last four National League matches.

Manager Devonshire wasn’t happy with his side’s performance levels against the Bluebirds but says panic isn’t setting in.

The Magpies are 13th and 12 points clear of trouble.

They face a trip to Ebbsfleet United on Saturday and the West Ham legend has reassured fans that no end-of-season malaise has set in.

“I don’t pay too much attention to the stats and facts and figures,” said the manager.

“We have just got to bounce back from this tricky period because we have got a very tough run in.

“There won’t be any complacency from us. There won’t be any danger of us thinking we are safer already because it’s not the case.

There hasn’t ever been any complacency here and there won’t be until the end of the season, I promise the supporters that.

“We will be putting in the hard work in training because we know we need to pick it up again.

“On Saturday we just didn’t play well, especially in the second half it’s as simple as that.

“Barrow were better than we were and we have got to make sure that’s not the case again.”
