North Ferriby United boss Steve Housham watch the in-form forward, a hero at Ferriby, perform superbly in a friendly between the two sides last night.
Halifax won 3-1 and the Villagers manager urged his team to cut out the mistakes ahead of their season opener against Curzon Ashton.
“We were playing against similar players to what we we'll be playing against in the league next year,” said Housham, now in his second season at the club.
“But I think it’s fair to say there won’t be many players as good as Tom Denton in our league next year.
“A lot of the time he is unplayable, he’s going to win ten out of ten battles and he was great.”
Housham says more focus is needed at times by his players.
“We played some decent football at times but we hit the post and they score from it, low and behold they get a goal on the counter attack. It happened a lot last season," he said.
“I won’t beat the players up over it, but their heads seems to go down sometimes. We’ll make the mistakes now and hopefully we’ll be over it by the 5th of August.”
