Orient have lost four of their last five, drawing the other, after losing again at home to lowly AFC Fylde on Saturday.
They've now slipped to 15th in the National League ahead of their big clash at Tranmere.
Rovers themselves are two places below Davis' side and he wants his team to be courageous at Prenton Park.
“They seemed nervous and we spoke about that again after the game," he said. "I spoke to Ross (Embleton, assistant coach) and he thought they looked a bit nervous and fearful.
“My response to that is that we can’t afford to be fearful playing in front of a Leyton Orient crowd who have great expectations with this club and want to move forward.
“We have got to be courageous and not be fearful. I always encourage the players to express themselves and enjoy playing and today we were a little bit edgy for some reason.”
