The O's led twice on Saturday at Barrow but weren't able to hold on as they drew 2-2 - watch match highlights here.
This barren spell has seen Orient drop to 17th, and the weekend's result did little to ease the mood.
“It’s been a frustrating five or six weeks in many respects because previous games we’ve got ourselves in good positions and dominated games possession wise and not been able to force the goals," said Davis.
“We went ahead twice, I thought the game was there for the taking for us, but we didn’t grab it by the scruff of the neck and win the game.
“It is frustrating, I don’t think the players are performing as well as they can at the moment.
“They’re lacking a bit of confident, I was hoping we could have nicked the win and that would have given us a bit more confidence going into the cup next win.â€
The former Crewe boss tried out a new formation on Saturday and hopes a change of strategy will bring a change of form.
He added: “We put in an extra centre half and played five at the back, a 3-5-2, it was just something a bit different.
“We haven’t had a lot of time to work on the shape, but I think we have the players to be able to do it.
“I think when you go on a run like we’ve been on, performing well and not winning, you need to keep changing it around, trying different things, different players and different positions.
“As long as they can in those positions or are comfortable in them, there is no reason why we can’t swap it around.â€
