The manager gave his players a private and public tongue lashing after their 1-0 defeat to Vanarama National League leaders Macclesfield Town.
Davis didn’t hold back and says the club can’t afford to “carry” players any longer.
His words came because Orient - relegated from the EFL last season - are now winless in the league since the September 2nd, a home success over Guiseley.
The East Londoners sit 18th in the table and the manager wouldn’t shelter his team from criticism after Saturday’s loss, their 8th this season already.
Davis admitted: “I gave them ten barrels in the dressing room. I have been honest and pointed some fingers. They need to know what I think of their performances
“We didn’t show the fight that Macclesfield did and that’s maybe why we lost.
“There are a large proportion of our players are underperforming. We carried seven or eight players, and you can’t afford to do that.
“All our keeper has had to do is pick the ball out of his net but stats like that don’t win you matches.”
Davis says his team don’t do enough to react when they let in the first goal.
“When we fall a goal behind, we just can’t find that desire to get back into a game,” Davis said. “We have done it occasionally, but not enough.
“I think we should have got something from the game, if I’m being honest but we didn’t do enough.”
