More than 300 supporters travelled to the Netherlands as the Quakers faced PSV Eindhoven.
Well, it was Dutch giants’ talented young players but even so it was an experience the National League North club will always remember.
Their fans loved every minute of it, making plenty of noise as they got to know their players that little bit better and welcomed the new members of the squad.
Darlington may have fallen to a 3-1 defeat but manager Tommy Wright knows the value of the trip.
“The weekend achieved a huge amount,” he told the club’s website after Darlo returned to the UK.
“We gave a great account of ourselves with a positive performance against a full-time team on a 4G pitch in 80F degree heat, and we strengthened the bond between the squad and our supporters.
“Our new players and our supporters got to know each other better in a very nice city. We also made lots of new friends, and we received some very good compliments. I’m so pleased that everyone enjoyed it.”
