Quakers fans have been digging deep in the weeks after the end of the season as they set about helping fund next year’s assault thanks to their Boost the Budget campaign.
Every summer the pledge money to enhance what they have to work with in terms of recruitment - and eight years on have raised approaching £1,000,000.
Chairman David Johnson spoke of his delight at the record breaking figure and says it will hopefully help the club to have a much better season.
“I’m so proud,” he said. “£175,000 was a challenging target, but to wake up to £189,000 - it is fantastic.
“This is vital to us in terms of what we are trying to do. Steve wants to bring in another five or six good quality players.
“The more money we’ve got in there enables us to bring in the level of player he wants.”
Last summer the supporters raised an incredible £162,000 to help the club in the market and they have smash that this time after an encouraging final few months.
Fans couldn’t be more confident with Steve Watson now is charge, the former Newcastle United defender saving their season with the club looked destined for the drop.
