It was one of those days for the Daggers, who were knocked off top spot by Dover Athletic.
Jonathan Franks' goal 15 minutes from time gave ever-improving Pools a third consecutive win.
Still gave an honest assessment afterwards, saying: "I'm disappointed but I'm actually quite pleased. I thought we played outstanding. We dominated the game from the first minute to the last.
"I think they had two efforts at goal, we must have had eight, nine, ten opportunities to score. We do score goals, we haven't today - I'll have to live with that, that's football.
"I'm delighted with how we played, disappointed that we lost but there will be other disappointments this season and it's about how we respond to them.
"We watched their game last week and we knew there was going to be room down the sides of their centre-halves. We exploited that and had good runners. Their goalkeeper kept them in the game and good luck to him. I've got no complaints."
