Daggers Striker Loaned To Rivals Until The End Of The Season

Torquay United have announced the loan signing of striker Elliott Romain.

Romain, 26, joins on a deal until the end of the season from league rivals Dagenham & Redbridge and links up with the Gulls after completing a successful loan spell with National League South side Welling United.

It was Romain’s form at Eastbourne Borough that made the Daggers pay an undisclosed sum for him at the start of 2017.

He scored 23 league goals for the Priory Lane outfit.

“He is someone I have known about for a while,” head coach Gary Owers told the club`s official website.

“He attracted attention when he was at Eastbourne. John Still, who has a great record of signing players from lower levels signed him. He is someone that can come in and make a big impact in terms of scoring goals. He works really hard and can play up front by himself and as part of a two.

“He has had an injury, but he is over that now and he’s had a successful loan spell recently at Welling where he got on the scoresheet.

“I spoke to him and he was keen to come which is another plus. Hopefully he is going to add something to the team”.
