Curzon's Extra Energy Pleases Manager Flanagan

Curzon Ashton have shown their manager John Flanagan that they can find the extra 15% needed to take on the big boys in an ultra competitive Vanarama National League North.

Curzon drew 1-1 with Salford City but they had to dig deep in the derby game to claim a share of the spoils.

Boss Flanagan said after: "It was really pleasing to see us take something from the game because we knew it was going to be difficult.

"They are full time and man for man they are a really strong side so this is a positive result for us, of course.

"Against sides like Salford you need to be able to find that extra 15% and we found it. You have to find that bit more energy.

"In the first half in particular we reduced them to next to nothing which was pleasing.

"The second half, well that was more backs to the wall but we we kept our discipline.

"We did have a chance to win it but I think if the went in it would maybe have been a bit of a false representation of the game. But it was a pleasing day."

On Tuesday, Curzon play Kidderminster Harriers - and their record against John Eustace's side is far from impressive.

"We know they are a good footballing team - it would probably better playing Kidderminster in February than now because the pitches are better in September," said Flanagan.

"I would like to think that we have learned our lessons from last season and that we are going to be better prepared.

"We will be able to take into that game the organisation we showed against Salford on Saturday."
