Curzon Feeling At Home Again As They Jump To Tenth

Curzon Ashton finally recorded their first home victory of the season - but it seems the club’s players can forget about not getting an earful from their manager!

John Flanaghan was thrilled with the 2-1 victory over AFC Telford which takes them up to tenth in the National League North.

But as he told Oli Osborn at the Tameside Stadium, there’s no such thing as a quiet life for the Curzon squad even when they’re winning!

“It’s fantastic to get that monkey off our backs, it really is,” the experienced manager told us.

“The lads are delighted. We knows we’ve lost games here this season. Sometimes it’s been of our own doing but a lot of the time we’ve lost matches we haven’t deserved to.

“We had to battle it out second half as we did. It wasn’t perfect, but it’s a great three points.

“Telford went down to ten men and they really upped their work rate. I’ve played in games like that. A team loses a player and you can’t put your finger on why but it improves their performance.

“There are things we can’t do as we’re part-time of course and you have to respect that.

“This is fun for them remember, they come to enjoy it,” added.

“The players work full-time then come to us on their days off and we beast them for 90 minutes and shout at them when they’re not moving the ball quickly enough!

“Overall we’re really happy. It was a difficult game but the effort was really there.”
