In 2016, Curzon secured a partnership with the Tameside-based charity hosting a number of collections and also dedicating one of the National League games to the charity.
Natalie Atkinson, CEO stated: “Building on the success of last season, I'm delighted to welcome back all those involved with the charity, we will be dedicating our fixture on the 20th January 2018 to Believe and Achieve as we aim to raise the profile of the good work that they do. We have many more plans this year, one partner that I thoroughly enjoy working with”
Alison Williams who set up the charity in memory of her son Alex, said: “WOW !! We are so thrilled to be continuing our partnership with Curzon for the new season. During last season, we met some amazing supporters of the club who welcomed us with open arms. Along the season we were able to give out over 1000 meningitis symptom cards which was amazing!! and share our grant scheme with some of the youth players so that we could support them in their team.
“`Believe and Achieve` is a true community charity that is there for everyone, and we feel so at home at Curzon as the club so obviously has the same ethos as we do!
“The `Believe and Achieve Trust` disburses grants to applicants across Tameside who are either young people and families affected by meningitis, or young people up to the age of 18 who are in need of support in order to `Believe and Achieve` in any sporting field, because it was one of Alex’s driving beliefs that sport should be inclusive. Since we launched the trust we have been able to awarded over £19,000 in grants to children in Tameside. That makes me so proud!
“`Believe and Achieve` have been able to make a difference to so many lives already, and that’s because of the great support we have from people like you! I know Alex will be every game and be giving us his thumbs up to us all. We would like to thank you for allowing us to share the next season we know together we can make a difference. We wish you a fantastic season… keep Believing and Achieving”.
