Currie Won't Accept 'Pathetic' Performance

Barnet’s angry caretaker boss Darren Currie didn’t hold back as his team were taken apart by bottom club Braintree Town.

The Bees geared up for next weekend’s FA Cup tie with Brentford in the worst possible way.

They crumbled in Essex as they went down to a 4-0 defeat and Currie said it was a shameful showing.

“I’m quite embarrassed to be honest,” said the stand-in, who guided the club to a third round win at Sheffield United.

“For all the credit I have given these boys throughout my time in charge, and they deserve the credit as they’ve been brilliant, I didn’t recognise them.

“It’s a shock to the system. There was no fight whatsoever and that’s not good enough.

“I can get my head around a defeat along the way, but not a defeat like that. It was pathetic.

“It was the furthest thing I have seen from pride and passion this season.”
