Currie Wants Barnet’s FA Cup Run To Be Just The Start

Darren Currie hopes Barnet’s fantastic FA Cup run has only served to whet the appetite of his players.

The Bees’ incredible adventure finally came to an end after they were beaten 3-1 at Brentford in the fourth round replay.

Despite a spirited second-half performance at the Championship side, they bowed out but not before giving their fans something to remember.

Now manager Currie wants his team to show the same level of desire and commitment in the National League and make a late season surge for the top seven.

He said: “We have reached some fantastic levels in the FA Cup but now it’s about reaching the same levels in the league.

“The challenge for me now is to motivate these boys and the challenge for them as a group and as individuals is to replicate what they have done in the competition week in, week out.

“Every game in this great run has had moments which we’ll always remember.

“I enjoyed the second leg of the Bristol Rovers game, the celebrations with the fans and of course Bramall Lane for my family connections.

“The atmosphere at the Hive for the first match with Brentford will live with me forever,” he added.

“Now we want more of those moments. It’s been an incredible journey and I’m immensely proud to be the manager of this football club.”
