Cup Headlines Are Written As Crucial League Points Won

A packed day of FA Cup, National League and North and South action gave us plenty to get our teeth into.

There will be strong representation in the third around as Chesterfield and Wrexham passed their tests.

Paul Cook’s team were deserved winners at AFC Wimbledon as the Spireites' unbeaten run stretches to nine, pictured.

Armando Dobra poked them in front at Plough Lane before a shot from almost the touchline from Jeff King embarrassed the Dons.

Wrexham eventually made light work of Farnborough as Paul Mullin’s hat-trick ensured a 4-1 win, but it wasn’t all plain sailing.

Owen Bailey earned Gateshead a point at Torquay United after Aaron Jarvis thought he had won it for the hosts.

Yeovil Town are improving under Mark Cooper. Matthew Worthington scored and was later sent off as his eventful day ended with the winner at Huish Park, 1-0 it ended.

Maidstone United secured a huge three points against Maidenhead but did it that hard way.

Dom Odusanya put the ahead and Regan Booty made it 2-0. Charlee Adams gave the Magpies hope before Christie Pattison gave the hosts breathing room. There were late nerves when Reece Smith made it 3-2 but the was to be no big comeback.

Altrincham are right back on track, Elliot Newby and Ryan Colclough again got the goals as they downed Eastleigh.

James McShane hit the winner for Dorking Wanderers as York City’s worries continue.

Southend United suffered play-off set-back as Aldershot Town proved once again that on their day they are a match for anyone.

Justin Amaluzor opened the scoring after 38 minutes before the points were made safe by Corey Jordan just after half-time.

National League North leaders Brackley had to make do with a point against Blyth Spartans after Toby Lees levelled up James Armson’s opener.

Darlington did make the most of King’s Lynn Town’s FA Cup afternoon.

They won 2-1 at Hereford to go second, Jack Lambert with the vital goal.

Chester keep on winning at Kurt Willoughby keeps on scoring - they left Scarborough with a 3-1 success. They are now nine undefeated.

Banbury United are back in the top seven, a 3-0 win over Chorley was sealed by in-form Giorgio Rasulo.

Prolific Matt McClure scored the winner for Gloucester City at Kidderminster Harriers.

Elsewhere there were important wins for Curzon Ashton, Peterborough Sports, AFC Fylde and Bradford PA.

Dartford are back on top of the National League South.

They overcame Concord Rangers 3-1, Samir Carruthers again on target.

Havant & Waterlooville missed the chance to move to the summit, but they again had striker Muhammadu Faal to thank for their point at Tonbridge Angels.

It was not the start new Slough Town boss Scott Davies wanted.

Eastbourne Borough eased to a 5-1 win in Berkshire, attacker Jake Hutchinson scored two goals.

Jon Benton got Braintree Town’s winner at home to Hungerford.

Oxford City love a very late winner and got another at Cheshunt. Aaron William-Bushell sent the away fans home happy.

Jake Goodman hit the target as Dover Athletic won 2-0 at Hampton.

Elsewhere there was three points for a Shaun Jeffers-inspired St Albans at home with Bath City and for Weymouth and Chelmsford City.
