But that’s what happened on Saturday as Stockport County packed in over 5,000 when Manchester rivals Salford City came to down.
There were over 4,000 at Wrexham and at Leyton Orient while two clubs with a great history, Darlington and York City, played in front of nearly 2,500 at Blackwell Meadows.
Impressively, there was only sub four-figure crowd recorded in the National League, the 493 who saw Gateshead play Sutton United.
In the National League South, the best crowd of the day came at St Albans, with 774 watching their win over Chelmsford City at Clarence Park, with 619 at Hampton vs Hemel Hempstead.
