Coyle wanted a response from his players following their 4-1 defeat at Chelmsford City last Saturday.
The Wings put in an impressive performance against rivals Dartford on Boxing Day, fighting back from two goals down to equalise before Alfie Pavey’s late screamer settled things in the Darts’ favour.
Coyle’s men are winless in their last six National League South games but the manager reckons they can take plenty of positives from the narrow defeat to the leaders.
He told Wings TV: “I thought we were the better team for the majority of the game. We conceded sloppy goals and that has been the story of our season.
“We matched Dartford all over the pitch and were better in the majority of areas. It’s unfortunate that we came away with nothing but that’s football.
“The character and the commitment the boys have shown was promising. If we do that and make sure we’re more defensively solid, we’re there or thereabouts.
“We’ve shown that we can more than compete with the best in this division. There are loads of positives to take and if we stick together, we’ll start a winning run for sure.”
