Cox: FA Trophy Chance For Lions To Start Roaring

By Tom Feaheny

Guiseley manager Paul Cox says his side have to improve and will use their FA Trophy tie at Gateshead as a chance to get their season back on track.

Another loss in the National League saw them stay 23rd, this was after a 4-0 defeat at Ebbsfleet United it is was far from ideal for the Guiseley manager who was disappointed with how they lost the game, writes Tom Feaheny.

They next take on the Heed, with Cox thinking it will be a good chance to get going again.

"We know what a win can do for the group, the focus is of course on the league but this is an important game for the side," Cox said.

"There are certain things we need to improve on, we know that and now I expect to see that improvement."

There have been plenty of changes in recent weeks since Cox's arrival but he believes more needs to be done to ensure they stay in the division.

"I thought there would be a dip after I came in, you get that improvement and then it goes down a little bit there normally is that with a new manager.

"We need to get back to club that it was five weeks ago, going to teams and beating them, there is a lot that's happened in the last two weeks which seems to have adjusted our mindset.

"The main focus is to keep us up, the FA Cup was a distraction for some, there are 24 games to go, now is the time for big decisions in terms of players coming in."

There will be a 9 am pitch inspection on Saturday to see if the game will go ahead.
