Cox: Amazing Guiseley Did Me Proud

By Tom Feaheny

Guiseley boss Paul Cox says his side's performance and attitude meant they deserved to reach the FA Cup second round.

An action packed night saw a Mike Fondop penalty ensured Guiseley won the tie 4-3 on penalties, they did this with ten men for most of the game with Chris M'Bongou being sent off before half-time, writes Tom Feaheny.

"The players were incredible, they deserve all the praise to come to a club flying in League Two to go down to ten men, the belief and work ethic didn't change, we wouldn't give up," Cox said.

"The work-rate, the attitude was all excellent, we have made history, this is a special occasion for Guiseley.

"We are developing a team ethic, the support was humbling, I'm just really proud of what I have seen. Fitness levels can play a part, we have worked so hard, I'm over the moon.

Guiseley's boss though says all focus now has to be on their game against Dag & Red at the weekend.

"The league is something we have our eyes fully on now, we've got some important games coming up that is our bread and butter."
