County are in the lower half of the table after four games and the boss wasn’t best pleased with the mistakes made against Salford City on Tuesday night.
Gannon takes his team to Leamington tomorrow and says if they are to improve their 13th place position then they need to start taking fresh ideas on board.
“Several players didn’t stick to what we did in training,” said the manager after the Salford game.
“Some of the decisions we made were poor, we gave away too many fouls and they scored two early goals. Some of the decision making confused me, we showed wild thinking.
“But that’s the evolution, we don’t want them to play to a script – we want them to be thinking footballers who can play and grow.
“We have had success with that in the past and hopefully we can in the future.”
County’s manager hopes to have key player Michael Clarke available for selection and he told the club’s YouTube channel he may not be the only player now available to him.
“We need to have more craft and quality,” Gannon said following the 2-1 loss on Tuesday.
“We can’t be overly critical, they have gone to work on Monday then training Monday night.
“We need to target two points from every game. Two games a week is difficult, we haven’t got the finances to have two players in every position.
“We are disappointed in where we are in the table, but all we can do it keep working hard on the training ground.
“Michael Clarke should be fit. We will have two or three more bodies back too.”
