Cooper Commits As Yeovil Owner Makes A New Budget Pledge

Mark Cooper’s reward for returning Yeovil Town to the National League at the first time of asking is a new three-year contract.

He will remain at Huish Park until 2027 - and the good news for Glovers fans doesn’t end there.

Owner Martin Hellier has vowed to loosen the purse strings following confirmation Cooper has committed to the cause.

That means supporters can expect to see some more in-comings as the club bid for back-to-back promotions with the big kick-off little over a week away.

Hellier says there is no better person to take them forward after a record breaking campaign which saw the club lift the National League South title after going on a 14-game winning run.

“I could not be more pleased that Mark has agreed to stay with the club on a three-year contract renewal,” he told the club’s website.

“Mark endured almost impossible conditions in his first season at the club and last season has shown us how a manager, the players and the club, can flourish when given the means to do so. That of course resulted in an end of season promotion for the Glovers.

“Fourteen record wins in a row, attendance records smashed, and several other accolades are all testament to Mark’s prowess as a manager and his commitment to the club. Today I am glad to show my commitment to Mark.”

He went on to say: “Furthermore, I am today injecting more funds into the player budget so that Mark can fine tune the already superb squad he has put together, and I have every confidence Mark will continue to lead the club to further success. He is a great friend and professional colleague and I wish him all the best.”

Yeovil begin the campaign with a visit from former manager Darren Sarll, who brings his Hartlepool United side to Somerset next Saturday.
