Collins Wants Minstermen To Build On Dream Start

York City manager Sam Collins paid homage to his players after a dream start to life as permanent manager of the Minstermen and said he isn't stopping there.

Collins was confirmed as the club’s new boss last week after impressing since the departure of Martin Gray just five games into the season.

And after Simon Heslop’s stunner ensured City took all three points from Southport on Saturday, Collins said their upturn in fortunes isn’t all down to him.

“I spoke to the players on Friday because they’ve played a massive part in me getting the job without a doubt,” he told the club’s YouTube channel.

“It’s been very difficult for them because everything was up in the air and I’ve been trying to get my ideas over and they’ve just bought into it and I really do appreciate that.

“They’ve been excellent, and we actually thanked them on Friday because of that. This is just the start. Now we really want to try and kick on.”
