Collins Keen On York Job As He Gears Up For His Big Day

York City’s stand-in manager Sam Collins knows victory over Blyth Spartans this weekend could lead to something good.

The caretaker is keen on the job full-time after agreeing to help out until the National League North club make a decision.

York parted company with Martin Gray on Sunday and Collins is highly thought of.

In an interview with the York Press, he says he would be foolish to rule himself out of the running.

“I’d definitely be interested,” said the 41-year-old ahead of the weekend trip to the North East.

“I know what a big club this is and there aren’t many better at this level that you could get an opportunity to take over as manager.

“I’ve been coaching for more than 12 years now and it has always been in my mind, going back to my playing days, that I’d like to be a manager one day so, hopefully, it goes well, and we can have another conversation and, if I get asked the question, I’ll have a decision to make.”
