Clubs Won't Be Beaten By The Freeze As Covers Come Off

By Sam Elliott

The frost covers are coming off and there’s still some red hot action ahead of us on a bitterly cold night.

There’s not only action in the National League, North and South but the FA Cup too - and the small matter of Manchester United await for the winner of Eastleigh vs Newport County and you can read a special preview here.

There’s a whole host of league games of course and Chesterfield are eying up the chance to go 12 points clear at the top.

They’ll have to defeat Altrincham first and they’re always up for the fight against a team at the top, just ask Barnet and Bromley.

York City are seven unbeaten now, even if the wins aren’t exactly frequent. Because of that, they’re nowhere near clear of trouble and take on Dorking Wanderers, who like them also sit just outside the bottom four.

The teams at the top of the National League North get the night off but there’s plenty going on elsewhere.

Third place Chorley can up the heat if they win against Gloucester City, while Chester know a play-off place will be theirs if they defeat Buxton.Scarborough Athletic look to get back on track against Boston United, while Peterborough Sports and Farsley Celtic clash.

In the National League South, St Albans City can fire themselves in the play-off places if they do what few teams have done - leave Hampton & RB with all three points.

Dartford begin life without Alan Dowson down at Truro City, who want to put Saturday’s home thrashing to Worthing behind them as quickly as possible.

Welling United beat Chesterfield on Saturday but can they give their survival bud a spark by winning at Farnborough?

They sides down the bottom will think Taunton Town could be a target to get sucked into trouble. Can they ease their worries by winning at home to Slough Town as Weymouth - also at the wrong end - visit Braintree Town.
