Clubs Really Get Busy As The Big Kick-Off Gets Ever Closer

It’s curtain up in three weeks’ time - so it’s no surprise clubs have been putting their pens to good use.

A flurry of signings have arrived across the divisions ahead of the October 3 kick-off.

On Tuesday the fixtures for the 2020-21 campaign were released - and the excitement is clearly starting to build.

Barnet and their new manager Peter Beadle have been getting busy.

It’s been a summer of change at the Hive and in the past few days there have been no fewer than four new arrivals.

All fans love to see talented strikers walk through the door and in JJ Hooper the Bees have one with real goal potential.

Barnet have also signed midfielder Tyrone Duffus, experienced forward Eliot Richards and former Stevenage defender Ben Nugent.

Another club needed to get contracts signed are Macclesfield.

New manager Tim Flowers has got down to work - 33-year-old midfielder Sam Walker and defender Marvel Ekpiteta joined Wilson Carvalho, Chay Tilt and Liam Nolan in agreeing deals.
On Friday night they also added versatile 27-year-old Lewis Wilson, signing number seven.

Wrexham’s attack needs some pace, so former Dover and Boreham Wood man Anthony Jeffery is happy to supply.

Notts County manager Neal Ardley has had a productive week. He has signed ex-Bolton defender Adam Chicksen, as well as loaning in Mansfield Town attacker Jimmy Knowles.

Torquay United have a new forward too. Josh Umerah boosts Gary Johnson’s hand ahead of their opener at home to fancied Stockport County.

Luton goalkeeper Harry Isted has re-joined Wealdstone on loan until January in a huge boost to Dean Brennan.

Woking have signed former Hibernian midfielder Tommy Block, while Byron Webster has joined striker James Alabi will both be pulling on the Bromley shirt next term.

There’s been movement in the National League North too. Curzon Ashton have signed Stockport forward Alex Curran on loan.

Alfreton Town boss Billy Heath has been busy - he has signed ex-Chester and Salford City defender James Jones and Boston United winger Nicky Walker.

Kidderminster have made Omari Sterling-James and Caleb Richards theirs - manager Russ Penn says he is thrilled with the additions.

In a big move,Blyth Spartans have signed former Gateshead forward Connor Thomson - while Farsley Celtic have added ex-Stevenage midfielder Joel Byrom.

In the National League South, Will Henry will be between the sticks for Bath City.

Manager Jerry Gill, who turned 50 this week, also signed striker Donovan Wilson.

Tricky forward Michael Fernandes has gone out on loan to Dartford from Colchester while Nathan Carlyle is back atConcord Rangers from QPR for a month.
