Clubs Get Busy As Squad Rebuilds Really Get Going

We’re less than a month from curtain up - and the finishing touches are starting to be put on squads ahead of the big kick off.

The Vanarama National League season starts on October 3, with the National League North and South campaign getting going a few days later.

The fixtures are released at 1pm next Tuesday and the excitement for the 2020-21 season is really building.

Bromley chairman Robin Stanton-Gleaves has said the club will be matching last season’s playing budget - despite the effect of Covid-19 on all clubs.

They have made some moves in the transfer market, and signed players with real EFL experience.

Defender Kory Roberts has signed following his departure from Walsall, while ex-AFC Wimbledon, Bolton and Millwall midfielder Liam Trotter, pictured, also join.

As is the case most weeks since July, another National League players had earned an EFL chance.

Scunthorpe United have completed the signing of Yeovil Town attacker Myles Hippolyte.

Hippolyte, 25, has joined the League Two club on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

In return, right-back Daniel Leadbitter has arrived at Huish Park on a season-long loan from Newport County.

National League winner Terry Hawkridge, the former Lincoln City star, has signed for Boston United. Forward Jordan Archer also joined on late this week.

Having left Exeter City this summer Dean Moxey has decided to join Torquay United.

Ebbsfleet United have signed forward Rakish Bingham after his release from Dundee United, as well as former Billericay Town midfielder Jack Paxman.

After signing goalkeeper Josh Barnes, Stockport County have then announced the addition of Fleetwood right-back Macauley Southam-Hales.

Luke Garrard believesBoreham Wood have done great business getting left-back Zaine Francis-Angol, 27, through the door.

Garrard told the club’s website: “He is a player I have admired, especially his time at AFC Fylde, where he was involved in two play-off campaigns and an FA Trophy Final win.”

Trio Myles Anderson, Cody Cooke and Alefe Santos have all joined National League new boys Weymouth.

AFC Fylde have signed Junior Mondal following his exit from Forest Green Rovers, while Southport have made a double swoop for Dylan Vassallo and Jack Bainbridge.

Midfield man Ryan Harley has joined Bath City following his departure from MK Dons, while Darren Carter has extended his stay at Solihull Moors.

Near Ardley believes his huge new striker will make a big impact at Notts County.

The Mapgies have added 6ft 5in Belgian striker Elisha Sam from Bulgarian top tier side Arda Kardzhali.

Darlington have gone for experience after former Middlesbrough defender Tony McMahon, 34, confirmed he was now a Quaker.

Gloucester City manager James Rowe feels the signing of young star Charlie Holliday is a sign of things to come.

He told the club website: “The club now has a clear pathway for the best local talent to continue their education while aspiring to break into our first team.”

Steve King has teamed up with midfielder David Ijaha once again. Having working together at Whitehawk and Welling United, the duo will be together at Dartford for the new season.

Dagenham & Redbridge boss Daryl McMahon has dipped his toe into the market once again with the arrival of loan pair Kai Brown and Bailey Clements from Ipswich Town.
