City Get Busy

By Steve Whitney

It has been a busy few weeks at Vanarama National League South club Oxford City, with training and preparations for the new season well and truly underway.

And, as already announced, Godfey Poku has joined on a one-year contract.

Poku is a specialist holding midfield player and has plenty of National League experience with Luton Town and Woking and brings not only experience, but high energy and a winning mentality to the squad.

Tom Winters (pictured) has re-joined from National League North side Brackley Town on a one-year contract and will become a star player in the National League South this coming season.

Winters has great quality in his delivery from wide areas and set-pieces and is a real threat with his shooting ability.

Reece Fleet has signed a one-year contract following a good season last year that saw him receive both players' and managers` player of the year awards.

City are looking for Fleet to build upon this and further develop into one of the best midfield players in the league.

Centre-back James Fawke has joined after helping Cinderford Town to the Evo-Stik League Southern Division One South & West championship last season.

A former Cheltenham Town youth player, Fawke studied at Missouri State University and represented Chicago Fire under-23s whilst in the United States.

He is a strong competitive player with excellent composure and has a desire to learn and develop further.
