Christou Moves From Thurrock To East Thurrock

Midfielder Joe Christou has left Bostik League Premier club Thurrock and signed for Vanarama National South neighbours East Thurrock United.

Christou joined Thurrock from Tilbury in 2014, having been a regular for the Dockers, for whom he made forty-four appearances in 2013/14.

He went on to pass the 100-game mark for the Ship Lane outfit in August and has thirty-four to his name this season, along with 7 goals.

Thurrock chairman Tommy South and manager Mark Stimson wished him well at his new club, with Stimson telling the club`s official Pitchero website: "I would like to say it’s been a pleasure working with Joe and also watching him play. He has been a great team player and deserves his chance to play at a higher level. We all wish him the best."

Christou said: “I want to thank everybody connected to Thurrock FC from the chairman to the backroom staff and the fans but especially the gaffer and coaches Tony Gay and Ryan Handley for making him fall in love with the game again”.
