The 23-year-old signed for the Cod Army from AFC Fylde in June 2016 and was part of the Coasters side that reached the First Round of the Emirates FA Cup last season, where they lost 3-1 at then-League One side Millwall.
He was also in goal for Fylde as they lost to North Ferriby United in the National League North play-offs in 2015/16.
Having begun his career at Blackburn Rovers, Urwin also had a spell at Bradford City where he played once as a substitute.
He will link up with Matt Jansen’s side for the full 2017/18 campaign.
