Hannah Sampson was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer in December which has turned the family’s life “totally upside down”.
The striker says the financial strain has become an additional worry and his club have really stepped up as the community comes together to help the goal-getter and his partner.
They are on a mission to raise as much cash as possible and have set up the hashtag #HelpingHannah to keep everyone up to date.
There’s an auction this weekend as well as a racing night, and donated items include a number of signed football shirts, including the likes of Nick Pope, James Tarkowski and Harry Maguire. There are also items such as a Tyson Fury signed boxing Glove as well as match hospitality package for the National League North game with table-topping Tamworth.
Jack said: “We’re taking it day-by-day but I have so many good people around me, including at the football club.
“She found a lump last year and got it checked. At first it didn’t seem like anything to worry about but at the beginning of December the results came.
“As we prepare for the upcoming treatments and the inevitable time away from work, the financial side becomes a worry for us. Hannah also anticipates the emotional toll of losing her hair during chemotherapy, prompting the need for a wig to help her maintain a sense of normality.
“She’s only 30, you just don’t expect it. But we’re now on the path and hopefully she can recover well. She is really thankful for it all and how everyone is doing all they can.”
