Chorley ‘Didn’t Respond’ Bemoans Manager Vermiglio

Jamie Vermiglio feels Tuesday night was a wasted opportunity to show the National League North how his side are capable of a response.

After a first defeat of the season at Bradford PA on Saturday, Chorley were challenged to bound back straight away.

But they came unstuck at Stockport County as Matty Warburton hit a hat-track in a 3-0 win.

“I’m really disappointed with how we reacted,” said the manager.

“We were given an opportunity to bounce back quickly after the disappointment of Saturday and we didn’t.

“We were nothing like ourselves, nowhere near the team that has done so well to get to the top of the table and that’s a frustration.

“We didn’t give a good enough account of ourselves,” he added.

“It’s hard to take. We started very flat but Stockport really gave their fans a performance to get behind and we didn’t.

“But it’s important we now stick together. There are some players in that dressing room who are really down but we have to pick ourselves up quickly now.”
