Chippenham Have 'Earned The Right' For Their Big Game

Proud Chippenham manager Mark Collier knows his club have earned the right to be playing big local derby games with the likes of Bath City.

The Bluebirds drew 0-0 at home to Havant and Waterlooville on Saturday but were unlucky not to come away with the win according to their manager.

Next it’s the game fans have been looking forward to - crossing swords with Bath, one of the sides expected to be challenging for promotion from the Vanarama National League South.

The Southern League champions are looking forward to the trip to Twerton Park on Tuesday night.

On the Havant draw Collier said: "We were the dominant side, but they were too difficult to break down. They came to set their stall and we have to get used to that.

"I’m particually pleased with the way we played, it was a decent day for us.

"You never want to lose your first game, but if you can’t win you draw and we did that.

"Now we move on to Tuesday," he told the club's YouTube channel.

"It will be big local game. Bath are on record as saying they expect to be in the top five or six places.

"But it’s a difficult place to go, there will be a big crowd there but we need to go there in good spirit and in good heart.

“But we deserve to be in this league and playing in matches like this. We’ve got to look forward to it."
