Chippenham Discover A Week Is A Long Time In Football

Chippenham Town bounced back from a disappointing FA Cup defeat last week by thumping Hemel Hempstead Town 5-1 yesterday.

The Bluebirds had also lost three of their last four in the Vanarama National League South but returned to winning ways thanks to braces from Scott Twine and David Pratt and one from Matthew Smith - watch match highlights here.

Manager Mark Collier was fuming after they were dumped out of the Cup a week ago, but as the experienced boss will know, a week is a long time in football.

"It was a good performance on the back of last week considering seven days ago there was a lot of doom and gloom," he said. "We had to make sure that was sorted out.

"We spoke to the players on Tuesday and Thursday. We had a little change of formation to see if we could be better and it was certainly a five star performance.

"We started planning on the coach on the way home last week. There was a lot of very good performances and if players play to the standard we know we're capable of then we'll fight our corner in the division."
