Chester Suffer Late Defeat This Time

By David Richardson

Forget a week feeling like a long time in football, Chester found out that four days is on Saturday.

After scoring a 94th minute winner at home to Barrow on Tuesday night, roles were reversed for the Blues last weekend as Maidstone United hit a 95th minute winner.

Elation in mid-week was followed by agony days later when Alex Finney fired home deep into injury time.

It means Chester have dropped back into the relegation zone although manager Marcus Bignot knows their luck will change if they keep putting in those performances.

"First of all, if my players apply themselves like that I'm sure we'll get the rub of the green in games to come," he said.

"We had opportunities but to be honest it was a game of few chances for both teams. In terms of our performance, I'm gutted for the players that they've come off on the losing side. I don't think we deserved to lose the game.

"We were worthy of a point."
