The Seals have started strongly in the National League North, despite limping out of the starting blocks with two eye-opening early defeats.
Calum McIntyre is happy with progress but feels rivals have a view of the club that couldn’t be further from the truth.
He was content with Saturday’s 1-0 win over South Shields, extending their unbeaten run to six with their fourth victory so far.
But he says those thinking his squad are living a life of luxury couldn’t be further from the truth.
“The home form was something we had to improve on from last season, and we’re doing that now,” he said.
“This year we have added some steel to some experience, and on Saturday we saw why that is so important.
“That was perhaps the type of game where we would have conceded a late equaliser last year. We showed what you have to show in this division to get three points.”
He told the club’s YouTube channel: “When we win games apparently we’re a full-time side who fly to games and have spa days in between matches and when we don’t win, everyone asks why.
“There’s a really good work ethic here, I am really proud of them and I really enjoy working with these players.
“The ambition of this club is to get prompted, but the aim is always to do well in the FA Cup so we know how important the weekend is.”
