Cheltenham Bring in Loan Winger

Vanarama National League club Cheltenham Town have taken winger James Dayton....

....on loan from now managerless Sky Bet League One neighbours Swindon Town until January 19th 2016.

Dayton, 26, started his career with Crystal Palace and had loan spells with Yeovil Town and Crawley Town whilst on the books at Selhurst Park.

However, after spending ten years with Palace without making a senior appearance, he left in November 2009 after accepting an invitation to join the Glenn Hoddle Academy in Spain.

He returned to sign a three-year deal with Scottish Kilmarnock in August 2010 following a successful trial.

He made sixty-five appearances for Killy, despite missing a large part of his first season with injury, and scored 6 goals.

In May 2013 he returned south of the border to join Oldham Athletic and played forty-nine times and scored 4 goals and also had a loan spell back in Scotland with St Mirren from January 2015 until the end of the season, making fifteen apperances.

He was released by the Latics last May and in August was signed by Mark Cooper for Swindon – former Kettering Town boss Cooper having just lost his job at the County Ground.
