The Shots were knocked off top in the Vanarama National League after squandering a two-goal lead.
Cheye Alexander put the hosts ahead and then Matt McClure made it two after just 20 minutes.
But the visitors, who had lost their last three games, crucially hit back just before half-time through Craig Clay.
Orient were much-improved in the second half Romuald Boco equalised eight minutes from time.
"Firstly, what a good game from the neutrals point of view," said Waddock. "First-half I thought we were very good and with the chances we created we could have come in three or four up.
"We've given away a cheap goal at the far post from a set play which has given them the momentum going into the second half. The goal before half-time was a big turning point in the game.
"Second half we started the game sloppily from the kick-off and they had a real good spell to dominate periods.
"We're disappointed but we're disappointed when we're playing a team like Orient, that just shows the standards and levels of performance we're looking for from our players.
"We scored two worldie goals but the goals we conceded were cheap and we could have dealt with them better."
