Chantler Joins Silkmen

Vanarama National League club Macclesfield Town have signed former Manchester City defender Chris Chantler.

Chantler started his career at Premier League giants Manchester City and appeared for the Citizens in a Europa League clash with Juventus in 2010.

The following season he went out on loan to Carlisle United where he impressed the manager enough to be offered a permanent deal for eighteen months.

He went on to make sixty-one appearances for the Brunton Park side before being somewhat surprisingly released at the end of the 2013/14 season.

Chantler earned a deal with Scottish League side Kilmarnock after impressing as a triallist in the pre-season of 2014 and he made twenty-six apperances last season.

But an old ankle ligament injury from his Carlisle days required surgery and he was released by Kilmarnock and has now joined Macc following recovery from that injury.
