Challinor Says Emotional Rollercoaster Is Worth It

AFC Fylde boss Dave Challinor says getting through to the play-offs is one of the best moments he has had in his career and wants to go even further tonight.

The Coasters are back in action this evening in the play-offs against Boreham Wood, a match-up that was confirmed thanks to a goalless draw at Wrexham, writes Tom Feaheny.

“I went through a complete range of emotions throughout the game. We weren’t great and it was frustrating at times," Challinor told the club's website.

“Then, within the blink of an eye, we had a sending off and Dover scored and all of a sudden it’s all hands on deck to keep the ball out of our net for the final moments.

“The final whistle was a huge relief and now we have to prepare for Boreham Wood on Thursday."

Challinor says the mentality going into the game will be simple.

“We want to play better but ultimately it’s purely about winning at this stage.

“Thursday night is a one-off game in a unique environment and people will be tested mentally.

“We go there with a game plan and I don’t think there will be many surprises from either side. Hopefully we can come away with the win and extend our season further still.”
