Cards Return for Sam-Yorke

By Steve Whitney

Vanarama National League club Woking have announced the signing of Delano Sam-Yorke for the 2016/17 season.

Sam-Yorke will be familiar to Cards fans, having come through the academy at Kingfield before making over fifty appearances for Woking between 2008 and 2010 – his senior debut coming in the 3-0 victory against Kidderminster Harriers on the last day of the 2007/08 season.

In the summer of 2010 the striker left the club to join AFC Wimbledon, where he joined Basingstoke Town on loan initially before signing for them on a permanent deal in 2011.

He signed for Cambridge United in 2013, scoring twice on his debut on the opening day of the season, and helped them to promotion to League Two, scoring twice in the 2-0 second leg win against FC Halifax Town in the play-off semi-finals, and started in the Promotion Final at Wembley Stadium.

Sam-Yorke made a couple of appearances in the Football League, before joining Lincoln City on loan in September 2014, signing for the Imps on a free transfer in January 2015.

He joined Forest Green Rovers last summer, spending the second half of the season on loan to Boreham Wood.
