It was over 20 years ago since the Cards last tasted victory at the Moss Rose in a 1-0 FA Trophy triumph - now they've finally won again, 3-1 this time, to boost Anthony Limbrick's side up the table.
That was Woking's second consecutive win, scoring seven goals in the process, after beating Torquay United 4-1 on Bank Holiday Monday.
Rookie boss Limbrick has seen his side take 12 points from their opening eight games, and this result was the club's first away win of the season.
Chances were in abundance but it was Woking who made theirs count - goals from Jason Banton, Joe Ward and Inih Effiong earning a priceless three points.
"It was an end-to-end game with chances for both teams," said Limbrick. "It could have been about 3-3 at half-time. It was action-packed, probably too exciting for our liking, but to come out on top at a place where traditionally we've not got many results is really pleasing.
"We conceded first and didn't get our heads down. I felt like we deserved to score two going into half-time. There were periods in the second half when we were really under pressure but we caught them on the break and we're happy about that."
Woking are on the road again this Saturday to lowly Maidstone United, Limbrick added: "We like to pass the ball so the 3G surface might suit us with the players we've got. It's good to have a week until that game to get bodies rested, plan and prepare. We want to try and push on and get another win.
"It's hard to look at the table at the moment. Coming into the Macclesfield game we were two points off the play-offs but we were down in the bottom half. I think this league will take a long time to settle down. It just shows what you can do if you can put some results together, equally if you don't and how quickly you can drop."
