Cards Dealt A Draw By Hartlepool

By David Richardson

Woking were made to settle for a point for the first time this season by Hartlepool United but manager Anthony Limbrick was satisfied enough.

The Cards had won seven games and lost five before the visit of Pools today.

Anthony Limbrick's side fell behind after Ryan Donaldson headed in but Jamie Philpot equalised on the stroke of half-time.

The home side should have snatched the points in injury time when Inih Effiong's strike crashed against the crossbar.

Nonetheless, Limbrick was content with a point. “I thought it might take us a few less games to get a draw!” he said. “If you look at the balance of chances it could have been won 2-1 by either side. When you hit the crossbar so late in the game it can make you think you’ve missed out on the win but we should be happy with a point.

“We've only lost once at home which is a credit to us. It shows how far we’ve come when we can get a draw against Hartlepool and be really disappointed that we didn’t win the game.

“They were organised and caused us a problem in breaking them down. We’ll take the point.”
