Woking’s dramatic win over Gateshead on Tuesday night ended a four-game winless run and threw them a lifeline in an intense battle to avoid relegation.
Irish boss Doyle says he has been open and honest with his squad as they seemed to be losing their way at exactly the wrong moment.
He hopes the midweek win will give them the kick they need after a tough few weeks for everyone.
“I felt after Saturday we needed to be brave and I was delighted by what I saw,” he said. “We had to show a lot of resilience.
“I’ve questioned some of these players a lot. I know there’s more in them than we have been seeing.
“I thought they did everything we asked of them. Gateshead play the way I want my team to play and they had to take the messages on at half-time. We stayed in the game and got our reward.
“The win was totally deserved against a top side. They delivered.”
Doyle, who replaced Darren Sarll in December, knows his team now face a huge game with in-form fellow strugglers Kidderminster this weekend.
“Draws are disappointing - we need to turn points into wins and defeats into points, but we’ve turned a defeat into a win,” he said after the 3-2 victory. “We need to keep fighting and keep scrapping.
“I wasn’t saying it at the time but I’m glad the referee added all that extra time on, because it showed our character to hold onto the three points.
“The one thing I have been happy with is the attacking options we have, the players we have to come off the bench. It gives us a platform.”
