Loanee Reece Charles-Cook bagged a second half brace to give the Cards the bragging rights while the U's were left to rue missed chances.
Woking manager Anthony Limbrick had another loan star to thank, Chelsea's Nathan Baxter after he made a string of saves in the first-half to keep the visitors out.
Sutton had won four games away from their 3G pitch but ran out of steam today against Limbrick's resilient side, he said: "Today told me what I already know about the players' determination, attitude and what they're willing to give to the club and themselves.
“It was an ugly first-half, we couldn’t get the ball down and pass it. For us to hang in there at half-time was a good lesson and we hoped a little bit of quality would come through.
“Defensively, the whole team gave absolutely everything and that’s what we want to create here. You can’t ask for more than that, we’re delighted.”
"They put it all on the line today. When we did get the ball down and passed it we created chances. It was interesting to see us on the counter-attack more, going forward at pace and we probably should have scored another, that was pleasing.
"If you'd asked the fans or whoever to be two points off the top after 11 games, It think they'd be happy with that. We need to keep winning at home."
